CUSTER STATE PARK, S.D. (KELO) — The Barnes Canyon Fire in Custer State Park is contained at 14.7 acres.

According to the S.D. Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fire was first reported on Wednesday. The fire fighting crews on site are the South Dakota Wildlife Federation, Custer State Park, U.S. Forest Service and many volunteer firefighter departments.

The joint effort of combining boots on the ground, dozer power and air support quickly got a handle on the fire.

Crews will continue to monitor the area.
