SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — With afternoon highs averaging in the 70s, this October has felt more like September and the amount of 80-degree days keep adding up.

Strong south winds helped temperatures warm again today. Despite this, thicker clouds this afternoon, afternoon highs made the 70s and 80s in southeast KELOLAND. That’s well above the climate average highs of the middle to upper 50s. Here’s where October stacks up…

The average high is just shy of 72 degrees. That’s the 3rd warmest on record behind 1900 and 1963.

With a week and a half left in October, we’ll see how the rest of the month shapes up. Whether it stays warm or cools, it still won’t take away from the fact that we need precipitation.
