Eastern KELOLAND receives much needed rain

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Before the snow fell in eastern KELOLAND, we had rain earlier this week. The rain was welcomed in many areas.

The big plan for Falls Park

And after the rain, we had temperatures cool enough to bring in people’s first measurable snow to eastern KELOLAND. While that precipitation was not taken in consideration for the latest monitor, we still had improvement.

This is what the drought monitor looked like last week.

While we did have improvement, we could use more water. And we did get that water.

At least in eastern KELOLAND. As you can see the rain in eastern KELOLAND over the past 7 days with a widespread inch-to-inch-and-a-half amount in the east. This too, helped put a dent in the drought.

This is the latest look at the drought monitor.

It does show the improvement in the east, as it dropped the severe category for much of eastern KELOLAND. But more water will be welcomed.

As colder air continues to settle in over the next several days. It won’t be rain, but snow we’ll have to watch for.
