Grass fire burns near Lemmon, SD

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Firefighters in Northwestern South Dakota crossed into North Dakota to help fight a large grass fire yesterday afternoon.

The Lemmon Fire Department say it happened north of town in Adams County, North Dakota just after 1 o’clock.

Pleas of not guilty entered in Hibachi Grill case

An afternoon wind gust of 39 miles per hour was recorded in Lemmon at the time of the fire.

Over 10 departments from both North and South Dakota were called in to help battle the blaze.

Several buildings, including a hunting lodge, were lost in the fire.

At last report the fire was 70 percent contained and had burned over 4-thousand acres.

Investigators in North Dakota are looking into the cause of the fire.
