PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. (KELO) — A felony arrest warrant has been issued for a man wanted for 2nd degree murder and child abuse, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).
The alleged crimes happened on Nov. 13, 2022, but charges were filed this week, according to court documents. The victim was born September 26, 2022.
Authorities are searching for Shamar “Tay” Bennett, 26. Bennett is believed to be in or around Pennington County and is homeless.
A second person has been charged in the same incident.
22-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash identified
Courtney Ann Martinez Martin, 27, of Rapid City was arrested this week for 2nd degree murder and cruelty to a minor. Martinez Martin is being held on a $100,000 cash only bond, according to court documents.
It is unknown if the victim and suspects are related.
The public should not approach Bennett.
