SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It will get harder and harder to reach 80 degrees in Sioux Falls.
Temperatures have been well above average, but sooner or later that will change and not only will temperatures fall, but we’ll also see more and more leaves fall.
Leaves have been slowly changing over the past couple of weeks and while the climate average highs continue to fall, afternoon highs have remained well above average. But we know cooler weather will eventually come in, but let’s examine the prospect of getting more 80-degree weather.
Three days of sunshine at the Sanford International
Cooler weather will move in for this weekend as temps fall to the 70s, closer to average. But we’re already seeing warmer air will return next week. It’s a question of if we can make it back to the 80s.
Here’s how often we’ve seen 80-degree heat late in the year.
It’s happened 8.4% of the time after this Sunday. It goes down to 5.5% of the time after October 1st. And the latest 80-degree day Sioux Falls has had is November 6.
So, even with the cooler air this weekend, we’re not ready to say we’re done with 80 degree heat just yet.
