SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Pennington County officials said Robbie Rombough, 44, of Rapid City, died by suicide early Wednesday morning in the county jail in Rapid City.

Rombough was found hanging in his cell during a standard 30-minute check at about 3:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Rombough died by suicide, according to the sheriff’s office.

South Dakota GOP spends $17,500 on Noem’s book

The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.

Rombough had been in custody since July 21 on numerous felony offenses.
