SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Old man winter reared his ugly head this morning in Sioux Falls and across eastern South Dakota.
Even though it was just a dusting of snow accompanied by strong winds for us, it created a flurry of activity at area stores.
“Today when the wind kicked in and the temperatures were in the 20s and windchills in the teens, it really picked up a lot around here,” general manager Brian Walker said.
At Fleet Farm, customers were roaming the aisles on the hunt for all kinds of winter gear.
The big plan for Falls Park
“Different gloves and other accessories to keep you warm,” Andrew Kroll of Parkston said.
Accessories like winter coats, caps, and even snow shovels.
Don: Two shovels we didn’t get that much snow.
Nathan: No not yet, but I got a bad feeling she’s coming I just have a bad feeling.
But you can turn that bad feeling into a warm one with this battery-heated winter apparel.
“They actually have a scarf that has little hand pockets in it that heat up, socks, gloves, vests, jackets and they are really really popular,” Walker said.
Ashley McDonald of Hurley says the heated gloves are exactly what she needs this year to get her through what can sometimes be a brutal winter.
“Well we have animals and such that we need to be outside in the winter, so it gets real cold outside, especially when it’s negative 40, so I’d be wearing these taking care of the animals and walking the dogs,” McDonald said.
They also caught the eye of Andrew Kroll.
“We’re considering getting some of those that’s a great idea,” Kroll said.
An idea that will cost you about $130 a pair. But some say they are willing to pay the price inside here, so they don’t pay the price out here.
