$1,000 reward in home burglary case

Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — The Rapid City Police Department has put out a $1,000 reward issued for information leading to the arrest of a home burglary suspect.

39-year-old Joshua Peacock has been identified as the suspect in the home burglary and assault this past Saturday.

“It was an early morning report of a burglary in progress. The individual had come into the home and residents were present. A very brief altercation between one of the occupants of the house and the suspect, which caused him to run from the home,” RCPD Lieutenant Chris Holbrook said.

After speaking with those who were in the house during the situation and they said that they felt terrible and scared during that situation. However, they are very thankful with the local agencies and the police department that have been helping them throughout this situation. Saying that they have been spending night and day making sure that they are safe.

The police were able to identify Peacock quickly thanks to the many cameras people surrounding the house have.

“Because their camera was pointing in the direction, giving us things like direction of travel and how many people. If the video was good enough we might even be able to identify off of the video and help us resolve the case even sooner,” Holbrook said.

Peacock is no stranger to law enforcement. He was released from prison less than 24-hours before he allegedly broke into the home.

He currently has a warrant out for his arrest.

Police say Peacock should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with any information on where he is at, should contact the police immediately.
