A series of brush fires broke out on Long Island Saturday, fueled by low humidity and gusty winds, sending smoke visible from Connecticut and the tri-state area. While the exact cause remains unclear, authorities quickly mobilized resources to protect structures, and no significant air quality issues were reported as the smoke was carried offshore by northwesterly winds.
