A look ahead at Day 35 of the 2025 legislative session

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — Here’s a look at some of the events scheduled at the state Capitol for Tuesday, March 11, the 35th working day of the 38-day 2025 session of the South Dakota Legislature.

Joint Committee on Appropriations at 8 a.m. CT in room 362 begins assembling the final version of state government’s fiscal 2026 budget. The committee met briefly on Monday and adjourned.

Senate Education at 9 a.m. CT in room 423 considers the governor’s appointments of student Griffin Petersen and Miles Beacom to the South Dakota Board of Regents. They would replace student regent Brock Brown and regent Douglas Morrison, whose terms expire at the end of March.

Joint Legislative Procedure at 10 a.m. CT in room 413 sets the 2026 session calendar.

Senate Commerce and Energy at 10 a.m. CT in room 412 considers possible topics for interim study.

The Senate and the House of Representatives convene their general floor sessions at 2 p.m. CT. The Senate calendar has five Senate bills. The House calendar has no bills. The two calendars also show a meeting of one conference committee.
