PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — Here’s a look at some of the events scheduled at the state Capitol for Monday, January 27, the ninth working day of the 2025 session of the South Dakota Legislature.
House State Affairs at 7:45 a.m. CT in room 414 considers whether to recommend allowing voters to declare their phone numbers and email addresses as private information in the master registration file.
House Education at 7:45 a.m. CT in room 413 considers whether to recommend appropriating an additional $1.5 million toward the Cultural Heritage Center renovation project by shifting $1.5 million from the state Department of Tourism, and whether to recommend reducing the state’s share of funding for high school students taking dual-credit college courses.
Joint Appropriations at 8:30 a.m. CT in room 362 hears budget requests from three state departments: Game, Fish and Parks; Labor and Regulation; and Revenue.
House Commerce and Energy at 10 a.m. CT in room 464 considers recommending increased inspection fees for weights and measures devices.
Senate State Affairs at 10 a.m. CT in room 414 considers recommending expanding access and investigative authority of the state auditor and expanding requirements of the state Internal Control Board.
The House and the Senate begin their floor sessions at 2 p.m. CT. Fifteen bills are on the House debate calendar, while five bills are on the Senate debate calendar.
