SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A downtown Sioux Falls brewery is hosting a pair of fundraisers during No-Shave November to benefit students in the Sioux Falls School District.
Remedy Brewing Company is preparing for its Beards for Box Lunches fundraiser.

“It seems like beards and breweries go pretty much hand in hand, so it’s just a natural fit,” Remedy Brewing Company co-founder Tyler Jepperson said.
“Typically, No-Shave November is used to promote men’s health, more specific, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, but we wanted to do something that we can see that would impact our community directly,” event coordinator Aaron Nelson said.
Aaron Nelson is the event coordinator, and thought “Movember” is an ideal time to host a fundraiser in support of the Sioux Falls School District lunch program.
“It’s actually kind of sad how many kids either don’t go with anything or that their lunch is the most nutritious meal of their whole entire day,” Nelson said.
“We wanted to do something that everyone could get behind and kind of move the needle and try to help some kids and have a little fun doing it,” Jepperson said.
The facial hair competition will be judged in a variety of styles, including full beard, styled mustache, and even ‘Like Dad Like Dog.’
“Maybe you have a schnauzer with some pretty epic stuff going on up front, and then style your face to look like your dog, things like that,” Jepperson said.
The day doesn’t end with beards. Remedy is also hosting a Pickleball Tournament.
“People are looking for ways to give back and this is an awesome opportunity for them to do that, and to also play some Pickleball,” Pickleball assistant Geneva Olson said.

Geneva Olson is the Pickleball assistant at Remedy, and says the cost to play in the Round Robin event is $25.
“Every dollar that gets poured in here for the tournament is going directly to the school lunch program, so we’re excited about that,” Olson said.
Meaning you have until Nov. 30 to grow your Pickleball skills — or a beard — to help a worthy cause.
The Beards for Box Lunches fundraiser is 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30 be at Remedy at 8th & Railroad. Registration for the beard competition is $10, while the Pickleball tournament runs $25.
