On Tuesday, the city council passed a first reading of the rezoning 8-0. A second reading is set for July 1 at the city council meeting.

The redevelopment would remove all existing structures to prepare the site to construct a new two-story bank building, according to the proposal.

A neighborhood meeting was held where no concerns were raised, the proposal said.

On the east side of Minnesota Ave., the block between 18th and 19th Streets has been torn down for a possible mixed-use development.
