GREGORY, SD (KELO) — A 15 year old is dead and another has life threatening injuries after a single vehicle crash Sunday morning, a news release from the Department of Public Safety said.

Around 10 a.m. Sunday the South Dakota Highway Patrol was called to a single car crash four miles west of Gregory.

Authorities say the teenagers were traveling east on US Highway 18 when the vehicle drove onto the shoulder which was under construction. When they re-entered the roadway, their SUV spun, entered the ditch and rolled. The passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

Both girls were air lifted to Sioux Falls where the passenger died from her injuries, The driver remains in critical condition.
