Crash on I-90 leaves 1 dead, another seriously injured

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a crash near Rapid City on Wednesday evening.

The Department of Public Safety says a car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-90 near mile marker 53. A pickup truck was traveling westbound in the same lane when the car collided with the truck head-on.

The 44-year-old driver of the car died at the scene. The 56-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.

The names of the people involved in the crash are not being released at this time, pending family notification.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
