SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A 54-year-old Iowa man will face charges related to a crash which resulted in minor injuries to a South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Tuesday.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety (DPS) says charges are pending against the Iowa man who failed to move over for a highway patrol vehicle carrying out a traffic stop on I-29 in Union County west of Vermillion.

The names of those involved have not been released, but DPS says the man was driving north in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. At this time, the trooper began to merge into the northbound lane with his lights activated, and was hit by the Chevy.
The patrol vehicle came to rest in the east ditch, and the Silverado came to a rest in the median.
The trooper was treated and released from a Vermillion hospital. The pickup driver was not injured. The driver was cited for failure to move over for an emergency vehicle, the DPS said.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
