SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Stampede is teaming up with a downtown brewery to add a new twist to Wiener Dog Night.
Man’s Best Brew is the newest addition to the lineup at Severance Brewing Company.
“Super easy drinking, light, it’s the one when folks come in and say ‘I drink one of the big three light beers, what do you got for me?’, that’s the one that we’re going to point them towards,” Severance Brewing Company co-owner & head brewer Scott Heckel said.
Scott Heckel is the co-owner and head brewer at Severance, which hosted a release party Tuesday night for Man’s Best Brew.
“We brewed it up originally as SoDak Lager and during the hockey season during the last two years we’ve re-branded it as Brew Line Lager for the Stampede hockey team, and this year to kind of tie in with the wiener dog races and the big day that they’ve got in February, we’re releasing Man’s Best Brew,” Heckel said.
The Dachshund-themed wrap on the can was created by the Sioux Falls Stampede, and will be front and center during the ever-popular Wiener Dog Night.
“We thought this would be just a great fit this year that, how can we continue to grow our Wiener Dog Night and make it bigger and better, and this is just the kickoff to what we’re calling ‘Wiener Dog Month’ as we’re about a month out from the game,” Stampede President Jim Olander said.
Stampede President Jim Olander says many of the festivities surrounding the game serve as a fundraiser for Dakota Dachshund Rescue.

“To team up with them over the last 18 years and help support them, anything we can do, they’re just a great organization and I think this is something fun and special for people to come out and enjoy, enjoy a brew and know you’re giving back to Dakota Dachshund Rescue and making a difference is something special,” Olander said.
$1 from each four-pack of Man’s Best Brew sold in January will be donated to Dakota Dachshund Rescue.
“Every month, we do pick an organization that we can try to give back to,” Heckel said.
And it doesn’t end with a donation.
“What we try to do is bring them into our place as well, one night a month during their give-back month and it gives them an opportunity to really talk to the community a bit and tell them what it is that they do, what they are, and then hopefully try and get some additional support for them going forward as well,” Heckel said.
You can also give back by rounding up your tab at Severance during the month of January. Wiener Dog Night is set for Saturday, February 8th, as the Sioux Falls Fighting Wiener Dogs host Fargo. The puck drops at 6:05.
