SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s a critical time of year for The Salvation Army of Sioux Falls.

An officer with the organization says nearly half of the annual budget is raised during the holiday season. From rental assistance to food, The Salvation Army of Sioux Falls is seeing a growing need for its services.
“A lot of people are really only one paycheck from disaster, and so when that happens, we’re one of the first people they try and reach out to,” Major Geffory Crowell said.
Generosity from the community is key in providing that help.
On Friday night, December 6th, a local band will use talents to raise money for The Salvation Army.
Mogen’s Heroes will perform a concert in downtown Sioux Falls where the audience can expect a variety of music.
“We do a lot of Beatles, Beach Boys, Zombies, Creedence Clearwater Revival,” Band Member John Mogen said.
The cause is close to Mogen’s heart.
He’s an advisory board member.
“God does some tremendous things through Salvation Army. I’ve seen that. I’ve seen it in the families that have gotten the food, gotten the rent, paid for heat,” Mogen said.
And Friday night’s concert is a chance to help even more families.
“You can’t have a better time than that. Great music and a lot of fun, and also helping our your fellow folks from Sioux Falls. It’s just a great night,” Crowell said.
The concert is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn City Centre in downtown Sioux Falls.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
There’s a suggested donation of $10.
All proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army of Sioux Falls.
