OnStar helps SFPD make shoplifting arrest

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — OnStar stopped a getaway car, helping Sioux Falls police make a handful of arrests.

A report of shoplifters brought police to the Kohl’s store on the west side of the city, on Wednesday morning.

Investigators say the alleged thieves tried to get away in a pickup, but it wouldn’t start.

Smithfield fined $10k after worker locked in oven

It turns out the truck had been reported stolen, and OnStar locked the ignition.

Inside the pickup, a prosecutor says there was more than a thousand dollars worth of stolen clothing and jewelry.

Police say they also found a rifle with an altered serial number and a meth pipe

Officers took four adults and a juvenile into custody.
