SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A local Sioux Falls pizza restaurant is closing its doors.
In a post on Facebook, Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza announced that it will be closing. The post did not give a specific day or time for closure.

The social media announcement comes after Papa Woody’s was announced on Dec. 19 as a participant in the 12th Annual Downtown Burger Battle in Sioux Falls. The entry was called Papa Woody’s Triple Crown Burger.
The announced closure plan by Papa Woody’s follows other closures of restaurants, but also openings of new restaurants in the city.
Let It Fly at 57th Street and Western Avenue closed in November. Kaladi’s Bistro, located on South Minnesota Avenue closed in April. Pizza Cheeks announced in November it would open in the former Kaladi’s building.
Dahlia, Big Sioux Burger and Ironwood Steak House have opened in the Steel District.
Watecha Bowl posted on social media earlier in this December about declining customers. The owner told KELOLAND News he planned to make changes to draw more customers.
The Papa Woody’s post said the employees were finding out at Christmas they would be losing their jobs. The announcement was posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
The owners thanked their employees and those who had supported them since their food truck days, stating that it would take “an absolute Christmas miracle” to allow them to continue operation.
Despite the decision, Woody’s states that it will not go down without a fight.
Papa Woody’s is on Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls.
