RAPID CITY, S.D.— Rapid City is set to flip, twist, and soar into action as more than 1,600 athletes from across the nation converge at The Monument. Toddlers to elite athletes with Olympic dreams competing in the U.S. Tumbling and Trampoline Association National Championships at the Summit Arena. This is the 55th year for the competition and its 3rd time in Rapid City. Many of the competitors in the elite category are world champions looking to qualify for the Olympic games.Unlike some host cities where downtime can feel like a drag, Rapid City offers a refreshing change of pace. USTA Executive Director Patti Lingenfelter says, we love the family, you know, atmosphere for things for the kids to do, the families to do. And a lot of times you go to nationals, and there’s nothing to do for, you know, for this is our vacation.
