Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — Over the past seven years the owners of Black Hills Tire in Rapid City have donated over $100,000 back into the community.
This summer it’s partnering with both Post 22 and Post 320 to help two local groups.

This season Post 22 will be playing for the Ronald McDonald House, and Post 320 will be playing for Young Life.
“So for every run that each team scores Black Hills Tire is going to donate $5 to that organization on their behalf. And we are going to keep a tally for the whole season. Then at the end of the year we’ll do a huge check presentation going to those organizations,” Black Hills Tire Owner Tenise Chapman said.
In the first weekend both teams combined for 40 runs, bringing the current total to $200, giving these teams extra motivation to get more runs on the board.
“I think that this just shows that even when we are down or something, we’re still going to try and score runs to come and win the game and make money for the community and help not just us but everybody,” Post 320 first baseman Max Speed said.
Money will be raised at both home and away games this season.
“A really awesome gesture to them, and then a lot of the Post 320 players are members of the Young Life organization here in town and it just really kind of warmed our hearts to keep that money local and be able to give back to the organizations that these kids are involved in,” Chapman said.
“It’s a pleasure for us, just to do something for our community that not a lot of teams can say that they do. Like I said, it also encourages us to do more and not just this in the community but also do other things in the community,” Speed said.
Black Hills Tire will continue this fundraiser all season including playoffs for both teams.
