SD aids Cheyenne River Sioux with wildfire

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO)– After Tuesdays announcement of a fire near the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, the state of South Dakota is offering their assistance.

Senate OKs limiting growth of owner-occupied values

Governor Larry Rhoden announced on social media that the South Dakota National Guard and South Dakota Public Safety are assisting in fighting the fires on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation.

Gov. Rhoden said in his post. “We sent two Blackhawk helicopters and a wildland fire crew to respond. We will continue to fight the fire and pray for the safety of those who are impacted.”

The Takini School who had previously evacuated during the fire also announced that they would be hosting debriefing/counseling sessions for students or anyone in need of a debriefing session tomorrow from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Cherry Creek Clinic.
