SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — The intersection of West 41st Street and Sertoma Avenue was closed for a crash investigation for about half the day Tuesday after a pedestrian sustained “serious injuries,” according to a news release from the Sioux Falls Police Department.
The intersection is across from Roosevelt High School.

New information from SFPD says a red Toyota Rav 4 SUV had been driving eastbound through Sertoma Ave, occupied by three juveniles just after 8 a.m. A Subaru Crosstrek was traveling westbound and turned south in front of the oncoming Toyota. A collision occurred in the intersection and the vehicles came to rest on the southeast corner, striking a pedestrian on that corner. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries.
Police have said three people were in the Toyota Rav 4 and the Subaru was driven by a 35-year-old woman from Sioux Falls.
All three people in the Rav 4 had injuries with one facing serious, life threatening injuries but as of 4 p.m. was considered in stable condition. The driver of the Subaru also received minor injuries.
A pedestrian was also injured and had serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Toyota sustained serious injuries. The remaining occupants and drivers sustained minor injuries. The circumstances of what led to the crash are still unknown.
Police said charges are always possible but won’t be determined until the conclusion of the crash investigation.
