Chosen Butler, a 7-month-old baby, was reported missing on February 28 and last seen February 27. His description on the South Dakota Attorney General’s Missing Persons website says Chosen’s race is white and he has blue eyes and brown hair.
In an emailed update to KELOLAND News, SFPD spokesman Sam Clemens said an arrest warrant for kidnapping was issued Tuesday afternoon for Betty Jewel Cross, a 38-year-old woman from Sioux Falls.
“Chosen was temporarily placed in Betty’s care but she is refusing to relinquish custody,” Clemens said.
During Tuesday’s police briefing Tuesday morning, Clemens said they are not able to release much information about the report or go into detail about comments “circulating on social media.”
“Suffice to say we’re looking for him,” Clemens said. “But I don’t believe — the best I can say is there’s no safety concerns at this point in time.”
“We believe he’s safe, we’re just looking for him,” Clemens added.
If anyone has information, they are asked to contact the police or local law enforcement. The Sioux Falls Police Department’s number is 605-367-7000.
