SFPD officer pays for 75-year-old’s hotel to keep warm

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — One Sioux Falls police officer is getting community attention after he purchased a hotel room for a 75-year-old woman who was stuck in the cold.

A Facebook post from hotel worker Levi Jones says Officer Tanner Vlaminck paid from his own pocket to buy the woman a three-night stay.

Sioux Falls Police wrote a post on X, saying “Our officers consistently do things in the community, outside the scope of their “normal” duties, that most of the time go unnoticed, nor are they seeking any fanfare for and even we are unaware of at the department.”

Temperatures are expected to remain sub-zero and wind chills in the minus 30s and 40s for the coming days.

“Good cops/people do still exist,” Jones said in his post.
