Sioux Falls man accused of shooting a pickup 7 times

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A Sioux Falls business man is accused of opening fire on an out of town driver in a construction zone.

Revenue asks judge to block legislative subpoenas

Authorities say 57-year-old Aaron Maguire shot the man’s pickup seven times.

No one was hurt, but according to court documents, Maguire’s been reported for road rage before.

KELOLAND Investigates dug through the archives, and it turns out he’s also been in the news before. In 2016, Aaron Maguire made headlines for his inventions, including a device that measures out dog food.

“It has a one cup, a half and a third, so no matter what size dog or cat you have, the portion paw can help you” Maguire said.

He even sold his products on QVC.

The Sioux Falls man is making headlines once again, after authorities issued a $750-thousand dollar warrant for his arrest.

On the evening of November 10th, two pickups were headed north on Veteran’s Parkway between 57th Street and 41st. At the time, one of the lanes was closed.

Court documents say Maguire drove his Ram TRX pickup through construction cones to pass the other driver. At that same time, Maguire is also accused of shooting at the other truck.

“Traffic Cameras, interviews were a big part in figuring out who the suspect was,” Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

Once police identified Maguire, they used GPS data to confirm that his phone traveled from his home to the scene of the shooting at the time of the crime. When police searched the device they also found a screen shot of a news article about the shooting.

According to police records, Maguire has been called in as a reckless driver at least 3 times in two years.

And that’s not all. In 2021, court records say a woman claimed Maguire followed her, boxed her in and got out of his vehicle to yell at her.

In 2022, police investigated another “road rage” report where he allegedly drove over a curb and extended his middle finger toward a Fed Ex driver.

Police also discovered that just days after the incident along Veterans Parkway, Maguire sold the pickup he’d been driving.

The car dealer told investigators Maguire was quote “anxious” to sell his truck.

Police say Maguire turned himself Tuesday morning.

He’s charged with aggravated assault, shooting at an occupied vehicle and shooting from a moving vehicle.
