SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Summer is over but that doesn’t mean work is done for the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department.
Right now crews are working to winterize and prepare for snow.
“An important aspect of winter operations is to arrange and test equipment to ensure it is working properly before the winter season comes. In total park operations maintain 70 miles of sidewalks and 80 acres of park roads and park lots,” said Josh Johnson, City of Sioux Falls Park Operations Manager.

Park and rec crews have started closing park restrooms and winterizing drinking fountains and sprinkler systems.
The city says some portable restrooms will be provided for some areas that see a lot of traffic.
