SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We are coming up on the sixth month anniversary of the disappearance of Tyler Weathersby, the Sioux Falls man who went missing back in early September.
While police have no new leads to report, they want the public to know they are still actively investigating the case.
This video released by police shows Tyler Weathersby walking near his home in western Sioux Falls on September 4th.
He appears to be calm and not under any kind of stress.
It was the last time anyone had seen him.
“No new information has come to light recently, but we continue to evaluate the case and continue to work on it,” Sioux Falls Chief of Police Jon Thum said.

Thum gave the media a brief update today on the case.
He says he wants the public to know his detectives have done everything possible to locate Weathersby.
“We’ve had other agencies review our case files; the steps we’ve taken and the things we’ve done and have come back with ‘yeah we are covering all the angels’ there were no new avenues or things that we suggest trying and that includes both local and federal agencies that we had take a look at it,” Thum said.
Thum says the case file is extensive; meaning there have been all kinds of reports, theories, and posts on social media.
When we talked with Weathersby’s wife, Monalisa Perez, back in September she told us at that time the theories about his disappearance that keep popping up on social media are not helpful.
“I’ve actually gotten off of social media just for my mental well being, because I feel like a lot of it is a big distraction to actually finding him; there are false narratives going around and it’s not helping him being found and where he’s at,” Perez said.
So nearly six months later, the mystery to where Weathersby is, continues.
“This is still an active investigation,” Thum said. “And we hope for the resolution of finding Tyler alive and well and we know there are different paths and we’ll continue the investigation so.”
Police say sometimes little pieces of information can lead to big breaks in a case. If you have any information on where Weathersby might be, you are asked to call police or leave a tip with Crime Stoppers.
