Storm Center PM Update: More warmth through Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — We were able to challenge and even beat a few record highs today across KELOLAND…especially in central and eastern portions of the region. It likely won’t be the last time that we challenge record highs before the end of the month as well.

As of 2 pm CST Tuesday

It has also been rather dry and windy today…enough to prompt red flag warnings for portions of southeastern KELOLAND until 6 pm CST Tuesday evening. Please be careful with outdoor heat sources.

While the overall trend for the rest of the week is a warm one, some days will be warmer than others. For example, Thursday and Saturday will be among those days…while we take small steps backward on Wednesday and Friday. Regardless, temperatures remain well above average through Saturday before change builds to our northwest.

Colder weather moves in as we head through Sunday and more so into the start of next week. Highs return to near and below average levels and will likely stay there through at least the middle of next week.

All the while, moisture will remain rather scarce throughout the region as we go later into the week. Late Saturday may see an isolated rain shower or two to the east and southeast. By Sunday, we may see a few snow showers to the west that try to encroach on central KELOLAND, but chances are low at best to see anything East River.

Beyond the 7 day forecast, odds for below average temperatures are favored across the Northern Plains.
