SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — While we’ve cooled a little, the heat will return for the second half of the weekend and early next week. Unfortunately, by the time we get to Halloween, those costumes may have to be covered.

Even though we cooled Wednesday, dry skies remained and temperatures were still above average. We’ll soon return to the well-above-average temperatures that we’ve had for much of October. But it won’t last for the rest of the month.
Afternoon highs on Halloween will be cool, but closer to the climate averages. Expect highs in the 50s to near 60 degrees. Unfortunately, by the time the evening comes around, the trick-or-treaters may need a light jacket.
With the cooler air later next week, we’ll also watch for the chance for rain. But the way the last two months have been, I wouldn’t count on that just yet.
