SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Minnehaha County Commission discussed a motion to pay two $1,500 tariffs for a pair of new Freightliner trucks.

Last year, the commission approved the purchase of both trucks for $133,000 each.

Now, the company it purchased from is imposing a $1,500 on each truck.

“Since then, there have been a couple of tariffs that have affected prices internationally, and the Minnesota purchasing contract, which we have signed contracts with to buy these trucks to allow for some increases. And this is one permissible under that contract,” said Jacob Maras, Highway Superintendent.

The commission approved the motion to pay the additional $3,000 Tuesday morning.
