SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — Three South Dakotans were appointed to the Department of Homeland Security’s Security Advisory Council by President Donald Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem.

A news release from DHS says the HSAC “leverages the experience, expertise, and national and global connections of its membership to provide the Secretary of Homeland Security with real-time, real-world and independent advice on homeland security operations.”
In a post on X, former South Dakota Senator Erin Tobin wrote “Proud to see South Dakotans on the national stage! Congratulations to Steve Kirby, Harvey Jewett, and George Lund on their appointment to the Homeland Security Advisory Council”.
Kirby is still listed as the committee chair for Noem’s “Kristi For Governor” statewide candidate committee. Jewett is a former president of the South Dakota Board of Regents.
