USDA hiring firefighters in South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Rocky Mountain Region of the USDA Forest Services is hiring permanent firefighters across national forests, including South Dakota.

There are up to 1,100 permanent firefighter and fire support positions available across the country.

Community-led movement aims to strengthen Sioux Falls

Positions include aviation officers, dispatchers, equipment operators, fire engine operators, forestry aids, helitack crew members, pilots, smokejumpers and more.

Jobs in South Dakota, according to the USDA Forest Service website, include forestry technicians for wildland fires in the Black Hills. Salaries are between $26,000 and $52,000 a year.
