What’s the latest on Jacobson Plaza?

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There will soon be another dining option in downtown Sioux Falls.

The Lodge Bar & Grill at Jacobson Plaza opens April 30th.

“Anything from smash burgers, to sandwiches, some shareable options,” The Lodge Wolf said.

While, the facility is city-owned, the Washington Pavilion will manage the food and beverage service.

The Lodge is just one part of the Jacobson Plaza.

The project is being paid for with public and private funding.

The city park will also include a refrigerated ice skating ribbon, a splash pad, an all-inclusive playground, and a dog park.

“It’s quite extensive in terms of what is here, and then there’s trail connections, direct access to the Levitt, and everything else downtown,” Recreation Manager Jackie Nelson said.

Nelson says Jacobson Plaza is expected to open in early July.

“We hope to run the ice ribbon from around Thanksgiving to St. Patrick’s Day every year, but we will have additional programming on the ribbon during the spring summer fall months. Some of that programming will be different walking clubs. We have bumper cars we’re going to put out there,” Nelson said.

While many of the amenities aren’t available yet, diners can get a taste of the project soon.

“Having a food and beverage operating here kind of unites. Food and beverage is about hospitality, bringing people together, so if we’re going to bring families down, we’ve got to have a place where they can break bread,” Wolf said.

Initially, the Lodge will be open Wednesdays through Sundays, but Wolf expects it to be open seven days a week starting this summer.

Additionally, Nelson says limited programming has already started in the warming house.
