Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — Youth and Family Services has been supporting the Rapid City community for over 60 years.
This week they have been preparing and boxing up homemade cookies to give out to people in the community who support them.

This yearly tradition takes several days to complete.
“Going back to our community and telling them thank you very much for your support. Without their contributions, their involvement, their in kind donations, Youth and Family Services would not be able to serve the children that we are serving and their families also.” YFS Nutrition Services Director Darcie Decker Said
This cookie appreciation event has been going on for over 28 years here through Youth and Family Services. And over the next couple of days they will be delivering to over a 1,000 different individuals and companies that help them out throughout the year.
YFS has baked and prepared over 12,000 cookies to be delivered across town.
“Scoop them, bake them, and now we’re frosting them in our multi-purpose room. And what’s kind of fun too is we have all of our staff throughout our agency helping us. Different individuals from different programs and they have the opportunity to connect and visit with one another. Even volunteers have been here helping us also.” Decker Said
YFS says the first round of deliveries brought smiles and surprise hugs.
Youth and Family Services are always looking for new volunteers to assist them in helping as many children and families as they can.
