41-year-old woman shot in home early Tuesday morning

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A 41-year-old woman is recovering from a gunshot wound in her arm early Tuesday morning in central Sioux Falls.

What qualifies as ‘self-defense’ under SD law

According to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, police were called around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of North Fairfax Avenue for a drive-by shooting. Clemens said a bullet was fired at a home and ended up hitting the woman in the arm.

The injury was non-life threatening, Clemens said.

Police have no suspects and aren’t sure why the shooting happened.

Clemens said police are asking anyone from the public who might have information about the house shooting early Tuesday morning to contact authorities.

Clemens said police aren’t sure if the house or woman was a target in the shooting.

“We really ask the public to help us out,” Clemens said, adding any information is helpful to investigators.

Clemens said police continue to investigate a homicide where a woman was killed in a shooting at a home.
