‘Horror stories…of AI is not true’: AI for businesses

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There are mixed emotions surrounding the use of AI, with many people not quite sure if they’re fans or not. A conference to help businesses understand the technology is coming back to Sioux Falls.

Dan Klosterman says that AI is a great tool for his work life.

“The text-based summarization intent analysis, sentiment analysis, writing, any of those writing tasks like writing emails, reading articles, summarization of videos, articles, anything like that, there’s the image generation capabilities. So if you’re creating social media posts and then also voiceover or transcription,” AI Expert who Spoke at last year’s Summit, Dan Klosterman said.

This is just one of the reasons why he is excited for the AiEdge Summit this Thursday in Sioux Falls.

“We really come to the summit to learn about what people are using A.I. for, how to better utilize A.I. and A.I. tools in our businesses, and also to socialize with other local entrepreneurs who might be, you know, partnering on different solutions,” Klosterman said.

“They’ll take away things that they can actually use the next day. This isn’t the thing that they’re going to learn about concepts. Theoretically, this is something that they’re going to actually get hands-on experience,” Founder of AiEdge Summit, Andy Jorgensen said.

The event will feature leaders in the AI community and even some AI influencers, with different panels, presentations, and workshops.

People will learn about how AI can benefit their businesses, especially amidst the worker shortage.

“We say that AI is not going to replace humans, but humans who use AI will replace humans who don’t. So with that, we don’t see that this is a threat to workers who are currently in roles. However, if we can equip those workers with AI, they will be able to produce output that is greater than they currently are now,” Jorgensen said.

While many people may still feel uneasy about artificial intelligence, these AI experts say not to worry.

“All of the horror stories in the movies of AI is not true. And so it’s not that it’s necessarily going to be only good things with AI, but right now AI is simply just learning. It’s much like a small child who is learning how to put a circle on to a circle, and so a square onto a square,” Jorgensen said.

“And I think it’s important to have the most good actors using A.I., just like social media, so we can go in and set the guardrails and help people develop AI in a safe way that will benefit humanity and benefit local businesses and benefit everyone who uses it rather than the other way around,” Klosterman said.

The AI Edge Summit is happening this Thursday, October 24th.
